EUROPA RISING

One of the most disturbing media “blackouts” in the news is the growing influence and power of the European Union.  The rise of the EU, along with the North American Union, should be among the leading stories in American media today.  But while the most “conservative” of journalists go on endlessly about peripheral issues, world shaking prophetic events are at work.  These are issues that not only concern Christians, but ought to be a concern to the people of the world.  Events happening right now in the U.S. and Europe are set to ultimately usher in a new dark age.

Last year, I attended a prophecy conference in Lancaster, PA and was quite surprised to hear Alan Franklin (a British journalist) speak on the EU and all of the bizarre activities happening across the European continent, particularly in England.  In addition to forcing the metric system on an unwilling population, insisting that citizens get rid of their national symbols in exchange for an EU icon, and accusing one man of committing “blasphemy” against the EU – the powers at work have been installing “big brother” cameras all over the place.  I saw many of these cameras during a trip to London 2 years ago.  This is no conspiracy theory – the cameras are quite real. 

COUNCIL OF EUROPE - THE EU'S BIG BROTHER

Working with the EU is the Council of Europe (COE) founded in 1949.  To understand their relationship, read this quote from one of their official websites:

“The Council of Europe and the European Union will develop their relationship in all areas of common interest, in particular the promotion and protection of pluralistic democracy, the respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms …” (Source: Memorandum of Understanding between the Council of Europe and the European Union). 

Notice that these two governing bodies are working on issues of “human rights,” “democracy” and “freedoms.”   This becomes very important since the COE has determined that the backbone of Christian belief is a threat to all of these.

“They shall deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you; and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.” (Matthew 24:9)

DARWIN’S DARK LEGACY

The latest disturbing report out of Europe is a declaration from the Council of Europe over the ever raging conflict over Evolution and Creation.  As of October 4th of this year (with Resolution 1580), the European Union has declared Evolution to be the only acceptable theory to be taught in schools, maintaining that Creation or even Intelligent Design should not be received as an alternative view.  As if this were not bad enough, the COE states that Creation teaching is actually a “danger” to society, claiming that it could become “a threat to human rights.”

Point # 2: The Council asserts that: “… if we are not careful, creationism could become a threat to human rights …”

Point # 3: That creation science is “born of the denial of evolution …” rather than of its own conviction.  If one studies the development of evolution in Western society, it becomes clear that the very reverse is, in fact, the case.

Point # 7: This is where the Council specifically refers to how creation teaching impacts “children.”  Remember that education-control is a chief tenet of the New World Order.  Point 7 goes on to say that having a “tolerant” attitude [i.e. towards creation teaching] “is in fact dangerous.”

Point # 8: Here the council says that the teaching of Intelligent Design is a “danger” because it presents itself as “scientific.”  

Point # 12: Somehow, the issue at hand becomes about “The total rejection of science” which the COE goes on to assert is “definitely one of the most serious threats to human rights and civic rights.” 

Point # 14: Next, as if revealing the old man behind the curtain, the Council praises Pope Benedict XVI and Pope John Paul II for their more “moderate attitude.” They are referring to the fact that both popes endorsed what is called theistic evolution (which says that evolutionary principles are true, but guided by God).  The Catholic Church’s International Theological Commission (once headed by Cardinal Ratzinger before he became Pope Benedict XVI) stated: “since it has been demonstrated that all living organisms on earth are genetically related, it is virtually certain that all living organisms have descended from this first organism.” (As quoted by Lawrence M. Krauss in the New York Times, May 17, 2005)  This teaching comes from Darwin. In contrast, the scriptures make it clear that God created all creatures “after their kind” (Genesis 1:21-25), while man alone was made in the “likeness” of God (v. 26).   Today, evolution is the accepted teaching in Catholic schools.

As we point out in “Megiddo II” the man most responsible for marrying evolution with religion was Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, Jesuit priest and world famous paleontologist.  Teilhard’s writings were pivotal in the development of Vatican II, which is Rome’s mandate for the ecumenical movement toward a one world religion.  Teilhard is sometimes called “the father of the New Age,” and is a central figure among occult philosophers.  Back to the COE Resolution:

Point # 15: Evolution is declared “crucial to the future of our societies and our democracies …. it must occupy a central position …” 

Point # 18: This one is most chilling.  The Council says: “If we are not careful, the values that are the very essence of the Council of Europe will be under direct threat from creationist fundamentalists. It is part of the role of the Council’s parliamentarians to react before it is too late.”

And how should the “parliamentarians” react?  The resolution follows with a number of exhortations to emphatically teach evolution, and to reject the teaching of creation as a science, but to keep it confined as part of “religion” only.

Point # 20: Reads as follows: “The Assembly welcomes the fact that 27 Academies of Science of Council of Europe member states signed, in June 2006, a declaration on the teaching of evolution and calls on academies of science that have not yet done so to sign the declaration.”

EUROPE: HEADQUARTERS OF ANTICHRIST?

For centuries, prophecy teachers have believed that a Revised Roman Empire would ultimately become the kingdom of Antichrist.  There are many who still hold this view. 

Consider this following article titled, “The EU Superstate – Future Base of Antichrist” written by Alan Franklin. 

Those who believe the EU will become headquarters for the Beast, also believe that the United States will suffer a decline, and be replaced by a European superpower. To see how this is possible, consider how the U.S. dollar is plunging in value, compared to the English pound and the euro.  While most Americans live their lives in debt, whether buying a car, buying a house, or starting a business – the people of Europe (generally) own what they have and pay cash for it.  While it is often said that the United States is the most “wealthy” nation on earth, the reality is that we have an illusion of wealth.  Our government and our people survive on a debt-based system.  We have lots of stuff, but it’s not paid for.  How long can this go on?  Many teachers have been warning about the U.S. economic situation for years, and point to this particular issue as the cause for the coming “fall” of the United States.  In fact, such a fall might be the impetus to usher in the North American Union.

IN DEFENSE OR DENIAL?

In our last update, we documented the heretical assertion of Pastor John Hagee, who maintains that “Jesus rejected to the last detail the role of Messiah in word or deed.” (Hagee, In Defense of Israel, pp. 144-145)  To hear again Pastor Hagee in his own words, click on this link:

Hagee’s teaching in a nutshell is that the Jews did not reject Jesus as the Messiah, but rather, Jesus rejected the role of being the Messiah to the Jewish people.  Some have argued that because Hagee teaches that there is no salvation apart from Jesus Christ, it’s not so bad that he makes these claims.  But in reality, what he is doing is helping to fuel the fires of unbelief for many Jews.  Jewish rabbis teach that Jesus did not fulfill the prophecies concerning the Messiah, and Hagee supports their view.

"Because with lies ye have … strengthened the hands
of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked
way, by promising him life.” (Ezekiel 13:22)

Hagee teaches that Jews who put faith in the Old Testament will be saved – even if they fail to acknowledge Jesus. In fact, Jesus taught that if Israel had put faith in the Old Testament, they would surely have believed the New.  The problem was that the Jews did not believe the truth that God had already given them.  Jesus made it clear that if they had obeyed the teachings of Moses, they would have accepted Him:

“Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father;
there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom
ye trust.  For had ye believed Moses, ye would also
have believed me; for he wrote of me.  But if ye
believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my
words?” (John 5:45-47)

I believe this is partly why Jesus told the story of Lazarus and the rich man (Luke 16:19-31).  The rich man who went to hell (v.23) was a son of Abraham.  We know this because he called out, “Father Abraham” (v.24) and Abraham answered him, “Son” (v.25).  When the rich man asks that Lazarus be sent to warn his five brothers “lest they also come into this place of torment,” Abraham tells him:

“They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
And he said, Nay, father Abraham; but if one went unto
them from the dead, they will repent.  And he said unto
him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will
they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.”
(Luke 16:29-31)

The message of the story could not be clearer: rejecting the witness of Moses and the prophets (the Old Testament) leads to the rejection of Christ, who “rose from the dead.”

Yes, it’s true that if the Jews believed Moses and the prophets, it would be enough to keep them out of hell.  But according to the scriptures, if they truly believed Moses and the prophets, they would also believe in Jesus as the Messiah.

WHO REJECTED WHO?

According to Hagee, “The Jews were not rejecting Jesus as Messiah; it was Jesus who was refusing to be the Messiah to the Jews.” (In Defense of Israel, p. 140)  This chief assertion of his is clearly overthrown by a host of scriptures. Consider the following:

“The stone which the builders rejected, the same
is become the head of the corner …” (Matt. 21:42)

The apostle Peter, in his testimony to the Jewish council, makes it clear that the “builders” mentioned are the leaders of Israel:

“Jesus Christ … This is the stone which was
set at nought of you builders, which is become
the head of the corner.”
(Acts 4:10-11, emphasis mine)

Jesus Himself applied this scripture to the Jewish leaders:

“And have ye not read this scripture: The stone
which the builders rejected is become the head
of the corner … And they knew that he had
spoken the parable against them …”
(Mark 12:12)

In Mark, we read that Jesus “began to teach them, that the Son of man must … be rejected by the elders, and by the chief priests, and scribes …” (Mark 8:31) The word “rejected” is repeatedly used of how the nation of Israel would collectively reject their Messiah (also see, Luke 9:22, 17:25, 20:17). 

In order to accept Hagee’s teaching, one must literally believe that the Word of God simply does not mean what it says. 

DID JESUS PRESENT HIMSELF AS THE MESSIAH TO ISRAEL?

In his chapter on “Answering Christian Critics,” Hagee argues the “major points that 
are crucial to understanding that the Jews did not reject Jesus as the Messiah.”  
Among these points, he says that: 

“If there is not one verse of scripture in the 
New Testament that says Jesus came to be the Messiah, 
and.... If Jesus refused by His words or actions to claim to be
 the Messiah to the Jews, then how can the Jews 
be blamed for rejecting what was never offered?” 
(In Defense of Israel, pp. 135-136, emphasis in the original)

Once again, Hagee’s teaching is blatantly false.  Jesus clearly told the Jews that He 
is the Messiah:

“… the high priest [of Israel]  asked him, and said unto
him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?  And Jesus
said, I am …” (Mark 14:61-62, emphasis mine)

What could be more plain?  When Jesus spoke of the judgment that would come against Jerusalem, He says: “… and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.” (Luke 19:44)  The Jews were condemned for not discerning “the signs of the times” prophetically (Matt. 16:3), by which they should have known that Jesus is the Christ.  The Lord also said:

“If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not
had sin; but now they have no cloak for their sin … If I had
not done among them the works which no other man did,
they had not had sin …” (John 15:22,24)

The “sin” Jesus is referring to is not merely the sin nature (which applies to all), but rather the sin of rejecting Him.  After the resurrection, the apostles clearly preached Jesus as the Messiah to all of Israel. 

“Therefore, let all the house of Israel know assuredly,
that God hath made this same Jesus, whom ye have
crucified, both Lord and Christ.” (Acts 2:36)

“But those things which God before had shown by the
mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath
so fulfilled.  Repent, therefore, and be converted, that
your sins may be blotted out … and he [God] shall send
Jesus Christ, who before was preached unto you … For
Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord,
your God, raise up unto you of your brethren … And it
shall come to pass that every soul, who will not hear that
prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.”
(Acts 3:18-19, 22-23, emphasis mine)

Peter’s warning is very clear.  It is to the Jewish people that he said “every soul who will not hear … shall be destroyed …” It was to Israel that it was first declared that there is no salvation apart from Jesus:

“Be it known unto … all the people of Israel, that by the
name of Jesus Christ … doth this man stand here before you
well …. Neither is their salvation in any other; for there is
no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we
must be saved.” (Acts 4:10-12)

Notice that Peter used the word “must” when speaking to the Jews.  Also take note that he addresses “all the people of Israel.”  He does not suggest that the Jewish people have some other option.  Neither does he encourage them in unbelief by suggesting that if they do not receive Jesus now, their eyes will be opened later on. None of the apostles taught that Israel would be saved under the Old Covenant (i.e. the law of Moses).  As Paul wrote, “… if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.” (Gal. 2:21)

DID THE JEWS KILL JESUS?

This question has been quite a debate.  It was at the center of controversy when Mel Gibson released The Passion (his Roman Catholic version of the gospel).  Of course, it has been argued for years that the gospels themselves are filled with “Anti-semitism,” and that they have fueled persecution against the Jewish people throughout the centuries.  To answer this accusation, some teachers have come up with the view that since Jesus “died for all,” we are all responsible for His death.  Certainly, there is a doctrinal truth in such a teaching, and one that Christians ought to recognize.  But in doing so, we must be careful not to deny the scriptures.

In response to the controversy, Pastor Hagee writes: “One of those deadly New Testament myths is that the Jews killed Jesus, yet no justification can be found in the New Testament to support this lie.”  (Hagee, In Defense of Israel, p. 125)

At this point, we can only wonder what Bible Hagee is reading.  And who is he calling a liar?  His so-called defense of Israel continually leads him to deny biblical testimony.  The scriptures, in no uncertain way, make it clear that the Jewish people were responsible for the death of Jesus Christ.  In fact, the evidence is so overwhelming that we must wonder what the end of Hagee’s delusional doctrine might be.  On the day of Pentecost, Peter said to the Jewish people:

“Ye men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth,
a man approved of God among you … ye have taken, and
by wicked hands have crucified and slain …”
(Acts 2:22-23)

Later on, Peter said to the Jews at the Temple:

“Ye men of Israel … ye denied the Holy One and
the Just … and killed the Prince of Life, whom God
hath raised from the dead …” (Acts 3:12-13)

Peter says repeatedly that the Jews themselves “crucified” Christ (see also Acts 2:36, 4:10).  This was the clear understanding in the early Church, led by Peter, James, John and the rest of the apostles.  It makes no sense that these Jewish apostles, ordained by God, would bear false witness against their own people.  When Stephen addressed the Jewish council, he said to them:

“Which of the prophets have not your fathers
persecuted?  And they have slain them who
showed before of the coming of the Just One,
of whom ye have been now the betrayers and
murderers …” (Acts 7:52)

Stephen’s words are very clear.  He is attributing to the Jewish leadership (at least) the betrayal and murder of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Hagee’s teaching makes liars of the early disciples and clearly denies their witness in the New Testament.  Throughout his ministry, the apostle Paul was persecuted by radical Jews who openly rejected the Gospel.  Paul wrote to the church in Thessalonica:

“… the Jews, who both killed the Lord Jesus
and their own prophets, and have persecuted
us; and they please not God, and are contrary
to all men forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles
that they might be saved ... ”
(1 Thess. 2:14-16)

The practice of “forbidding” the preaching of the Gospel has not ended among the Jewish people.  On Dec. 25, 1977, Israel passed its “Anti-Missionary Law.” This law is defined by the National Prayer Network as:

“… a statute that decrees a prison term of up to five years for any Gentile attempting to proselytize a Jew away from his faith.  Proponents say this is vital to the survival of Israel because so many young Jews are being seduced away from the fold, largely by Christianity. The severity of the sentence, they argue, is warranted because such theft of Jewish souls can lead to genocide, or the extinction of a race.” (Source: National Prayer Network article, “Religious Proselytizing: A Smear Term to Silence Christianity”

The law is also explained by Americans for Middle East Understanding:

“… the new Israeli ‘Anti-Missionary Law.’ Passed by the Knesset (Israeli Parliament) on December 27, 1977 (Christmas week), this law went into effect on April 1, 1978 (Easter week), making it a criminal offense—punishable by five years in prison or a 50,000-pound fine—to offer material inducement to an Israeli to change his religion. Sentences for converts under such circumstances are set somewhat lower: three years in prison or a 30,000-pound fine.” (Source: AMEU, “The New Israeli Law: Will it Doom the Christian Mission in the Holy Land?” by L. The Orthodox Jews and rabbis continue to be very hostile towards Christianity, and have accused Christians of having an “ulterior motive” in their support of Israel.  The ulterior motive they speak of is the desire to preach the Gospel to the Jewish people.  Of this, hopefully, we will all stand guilty before God. Let us not, as Hagee, withhold the truth
from those the Lord loves and desires to be saved.   

TRIBULATION & WRATH

“… the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.”
(1 Thess. 2:16)

The “wrath” that Paul wrote of in his letter to the Thessalonians, is the vengeance of God against the Jews for rejecting the Gospel message, and for ruthlessely persecuting those who received it.  Their punishment was written of in the Old Testament, and was prophesied by Jesus Himself:

“And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed
with armies, then know that its desolation is near
…. For these are the days of vengeance, that all
things which are written may be fulfilled.  For
there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath
upon this people.  And they shall fall by the edge
of the sword, and shall be led away captive into
all nations …” (Luke 21:20, 22-24, emphasis mine)

It is important to remember that what the Jews have suffered for the last 1900 years has been ordained by God because of their rejection of Him.  This is repeatedly stated in the scriptures, and we are no help to Israel by telling them that such is not the case. This fact, however, does not permit Gentiles to gloat, or boast, or in any way take part in the ill treatment of the Jewish people.  If a parent spanks their child, they don’t want the other children to come round and spank the child as well; or to stand by and laugh, and mock, or spew hateful words at them, or any other such thing. We are commanded to do good
toward the Jews, and unto all men (Gal. 6:10).

It is true that the passages I’ve quoted above have been used by many who called themselves “Christians” to justify hating the Jewish people, and even to mass murder them.  But these things were done contrary to the teaching and example of Christ and the apostles.  Nevertheless, we cannot ourselves be guilty of denying God’s word while trying to “defend” the Jewish people against the unfair treatment they have suffered.  All that said, it is heartily agreed by our ministry that all of these things are part of God’s great plan to ultimately redeem Israel in the end.  To God be the glory, and may we as His servants be faithful to His words in all.

 Unfortunately, Hagee has refused to make a distinction between biblical Christianity and the Roman Church, which has been chiefly responsible for the persecution of the Jews through the centuries.  In his book, he lumps all into a single category. He justifies the unbelief of Israel due to the ungodly behavior of so-called "Christians," saying that:

“... the idea that the Jews of the world are going to convert and storm the doors of Christian churches is a myth. After two thousand years of loveless, godless, anti-Semitic Christianity that has saturated the soil of the earth with their blood in the Crusades, the Inquisition, and the Holocaust, they are not about to convert. After two thousand years of an anti-Semitic replacement theology that says ‘the church is the real Israel,’ thus denying the Jews their rightful place in the economy of God, they are not about to convert .... It is not Jews and Judaism who have lost credibility; it is a loveless Christianity that has lost credibility. The Jews ask, 'Was Jesus a false Messiah?' No one can be the true Messiah whose followers feel compelled to hate, murder, rob, and rape for two thousand years and then brazenly proclaim, 'We are the people of God.' (Hagee, In Defense of Israel, p.
148)

Hagee seems blind to the fact that the same false "Church" (i.e. Rome) that persecuted the Jews, was the same that persecuted real Christians (who preserved the true Gospel) during the same two thousand years. In fact, biblical Christians suffered far more at the hands of Rome's Inquisition than all the Jews, Muslims and Pagans combined. This is intended to be the subject (in part) of our upcoming documentary series, "A Lamp in the Dark."

ISRAEL BLINDED FOR A TIME

“For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant
of this mystery … that blindness in part is happened to
Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in.”
(Romans 11:25)

There is no question that a prophetic application of the above scripture needs to be recognized by Christians today.  Many ministers completely deny that God has a future plan for Israel (i.e. the Jewish people), and in so teaching, are in denial of what Paul wrote to the church in Rome.  Deuteronomy 28:15-66, Ezekiel 36:19-29, Amos 9:14-15 and many passages throughout the Old Testament foretell the rebellion of Israel, their punishment by being scattered throughout the world; that they would be gathered again back into their land, and that their presence there would ultimately lead to Armageddon (Zechariah 12:2-9, 14:1-4).

We surely believe that the great climax of Israel’s destiny is to finally recognize Jesus Who was “pierced” upon the cross, as their true Messiah:

“And I will pour upon the house of David,
and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the
Spirit of grace and of supplications; and they
shall look upon me whom they have pierced,
and they shall mourn for him, as one
mourneth for his only son …”
(Zechariah 12:10)

“Behold, he cometh with clouds, and every
eye shall see him, and they also who pierced
him; and all kindreds of the earth shall wail
because of him.  Even so, Amen.”
(Revelation 1:7)

While these things are so, it is important to remember that none of these prophetic passages change the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  This is where the problem lies for teachers like Hagee.  The prophetic destiny of Israel does not mean that Jews will be saved under the Old Covenant. Their salvation comes by recognizing Jesus as the Messiah.

But the question remains, if God has blinded Israel, how can they be held accountable for not acknowledging Jesus?  This is an issue that needs to be addressed.  The “blindness” spoken of by the apostle Paul, does not only apply to Israel.  This is actually a principle of God’s judgment seen throughout the scriptures, and comes as the result of rebellion and unbelief.  God says:

“Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious
house, who have eyes to see, and see not; they have ears
to hear, and hear not; for they are a rebellious house.”
(Ezek. 12:1-2, emphasis mine)

Rebellion leads to blindness.  In Ezekiel, God is specifically speaking of the Jews.  But Paul describes the same about the Gentile nations in Romans chapter 1.  He explains how men once knew God, but then rejected Him.  Paul’s words most likely pertain to the early post-flood generations, who lived centuries before “Israel” was established.

“Because when they knew God, they glorified him not
as God, neither were thankful, but became vain in their
imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened ….”

“Wherefore, God also gave them up … who exchanged the
truth of God for a lie … even as they did not like to
retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to
a reprobate mind …” (Romans 1:21,24-25,28)

Because men rejected God, their hearts were “darkened” or blinded.  A similar judgment comes upon the people of the whole world, who will be deceived by Antichrist “because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie …” (2 Thess. 2:10-11) Here again, the rejection of the truth leads to “delusion” or spiritual blindness, caused by God.  Just as God blinded the Gentiles, He also blinded the Jews. 

The scriptures clearly teach that God does not change (Mal. 3:6), and that concerning the judgment of both Jews and Gentiles, with the Lord there is “no difference” and “no respect of persons” (Acts 10:34-35, Romans 3:9-10, 22-23, 29-30, Colossians 3:25).  The only discernable difference is that the Jews are either saved or condemned “first” because the truth (i.e. the law & then Christ) was first given to them.  This is why Paul writes:

“God … will render to every man according to his
deeds: to them who by patient continuance in well-doing
seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life;
but unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the
truth … indignation and wrath … upon every soul of
man … of the Jew first, and also to the Gentile; for there
is no respect of persons with God.” (Romans 2:5-11,
emphasis mine)

DOES HAGEE LOVE OR HATE THE JEWS?

Hagee names one of his chapters "My Lifelong Love for Israel." But is his professed love according to the biblical standard?

“He that spareth his rod hateth his son; but he that
loveth him chasteneth him …” (Proverbs 13:24)

“As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten; be
zealous therefore, and repent.”
(Revelation 3:19)

Does Hagee really love Israel?  We have an old saying in our culture, “Friends don’t let friends drive drunk.”  In other words, if you truly love someone, you will confront them with the truth and let them know when they are endangering their own life.  If Hagee truly loved Israel, he would not defend their denial of Jesus Christ.  By default, he justifies their rejection of our Lord and gives them no compulsion to repent; leaving them dead in their sins by teaching that repentance is unnecessary for them.

Furthermore, Hagee is an internationally recognized televangelist, with a reported audience of over 90 million people (according to his own website).  In his book, he shows pictures of himself meeting with top Jewish leaders; including Prime Ministers Menachem Begin, Yitzhak Shamir, Yitzhak Rabin, Ariel Sharon and Benjamin Netanyahu.  Obviously, Hagee represents “Christianity” to many of the Jewish people.  As such, we ought to be very concerned about the potentially deadly impact his teachings could have upon them.  If the rich man of Luke 16, who called Abraham “father,” could end up in hell, there is no reason to think the same could not apply to Jews in every generation.  It was to the Jews that Jesus first declared: “… except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:3)

UNDERSTAND THE TIMES

For some time now, Roger Oakland has been battling against the Emerging Church movement.  He’s published a book on it titled, “Faith Undone” for which he has received a considerable amount of opposition.  Roger’s home church has been Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa.  Unfortunately, some in the leadership there have given themselves over to the Emerging Church movement.  We’ve received a variety of reports about the harsh, in-house conflicts that have come about as a result.

We have just received a report via Lighthouse Trails (who publishes Faith Undone) that Roger Oakland’s Understand the Times radio show was recently removed from the Calvary Chapel radio network KWVE.  This was apparently in response to an article posted by Oakland titled “Ichabod.” While he names no names or ministries in this commentary, the focus of it seems clearly aimed at certain compromises which he and his message oppose.  I highly recommend this article, which is a great read for any Christian in their walk of faith.
